Area Police
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
